Punta Cana, Dominican Republic – The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Under-14 Boys made a commanding start to the 2026 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) U14 Challenge Series, securing a resounding 8 – 1 victory over Montserrat in their opening match in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on Sunday.
Guyana established its dominance early, taking a 2–1 lead at half-time, with Cavon Peters and Dane Vancooten finding the back of the net to give the young Golden Jaguars the advantage heading into the second half.
The Guyanese side shifted into another gear after the break, producing a relentless attacking display that saw them score six additional goals to complete an impressive 8 –1 triumph. Peters and Vancooten each completed their individual scoring, while Lujon Dos Santos added another goal to the tally. Aaron Vasconcellos struck twice, while Wayshawn Forde delivered a standout performance with a hat-trick to cap a dominant team display.
The well-deserved victory provides Guyana with an important opening result as the team continues its campaign in the CFU U14 Challenge Series, following months of preparation under the GFF’s FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS).
The GFF U14 Boys will return to action on Monday, August 17, when they face Anguilla in their second match of the competition. Guyana will be looking to build on its strong opening performance and maintain its momentum as the Challenge Series continues.
The GFF congratulates the U14 Boys on their outstanding opening performance and striking victory over Montserrat. The Federation extends its best wishes to the players, technical staff and entire team as they prepare for their next challenge against Anguilla and continue their campaign in the CFU U14 Challenge Series.
