Kaieteur Sports – Dr. Joaan Deo emerged as the overall winner of the DemLife Golf Tournament, following an exciting day of competitive golf at the Lusignan Golf Club on Saturday.
The tournament attracted 28 players, with golfers taking to the lush, well-manicured fairways of the Lusignan Golf Club for a day filled with skill, competition and camaraderie.
Deo produced the standout performance of the tournament, carding 84 gross and 70 net to secure overall honours. Her impressive performance also saw her capture the 13–18 Flight and Longest Drive prizes, making it a particularly successful outing for the accomplished golfer.
The competition remained exciting throughout the day, as players battled across the different flights and individual categories. The lush surroundings and challenging layout of the Lusignan course provided the perfect setting for golfers to test their accuracy, distance and consistency.
Mohanlal Dinanauth was among the other standout performers, capturing both the Nearest to Pin and Best Gross awards.
In the Senior Flight, Hilbert Shields claimed first place with 91 gross and 72 net, while Bala Vinjimor secured the top spot in the 19–28 Flight, finishing with 102 gross and 74 net.
Patrick Prashad took first place in the 0–12 Flight, recording 84 gross and 72 net.
The tournament provided an entertaining display of golfing talent, with players competing not only for flight honours but also for special prizes that added to the excitement of the event.
From the opening tee shots to the final scores, the DemLife Golf Tournament showcased the competitive spirit that continues to drive the growth of golf in Guyana. The event also brought together golfers of varying experience and handicaps, creating an atmosphere of sportsmanship and fellowship on and off the course.
At the end of the day, it was Deo who stood above the field, with her 70 net earning her the coveted overall championship.
The DemLife Golf Tournament was a successful celebration of golf, competition and community, with the picturesque Lusignan Golf Club once again providing a fitting backdrop for an exciting day on the greens.
