Imperial Cricket Club crowned NYNCL 30-over champion
(Kaieteur Sports) Imperial Cricket Club was recently crowned the champion in this year’s New York National Cricket League (NYNCL) 30-over championship after beating West Coast Warriors by a thrilling, 10-run margin at Baisley Pond venue.
After opting to bat first, Imperial reached a respectable 187 all out in 29.5 overs while West Coast Warriors responded with 177 in the 30th over.

Their chase was led by a steady fight from opener Youghestir Bachan who hit an impressive 93 having faced 86 balls. He slammed eight fours and a six and shared few promising partnerships.
Avi Dhanpaul made 21 and Brandon Cabose with 16 offered fights. Warriors, playing in their third consecutive finals, lost opener and skipper Rajendra Khan for 01.
But Bachan and Chandrapaul Persaud repaired the early damage with a fine, 46-run stand for the second wicket. Persaud departed for 15.
Dhanpaul and the confident Bachan carried the score to 92 before a middle-order collapse.
Bachan was dismissed in the 26th over.
Ar Opu, the medium fast bowler, grabbed 3-35 from his maximum six overs, while Joy Rahman, another slow-bowler, finished with 3-40 from 5.5 overs and Saifuzzaman Tanim picked up 2-25 from six economical overs on a placid pitch to offer support.
Earlier, the consistent Inatul Alvi led the way for the defending champion team Imperial Cricket Club with a stroke-filled 65 which contained eight fours and three sixes from 34 balls.
Opu added 45 vital runs as pacer Kenly Adams bagged 5-27 off six tidy overs.
Bachan, the medium pacer, grabbed 3-17 off 3.5 overs and Anthony Providence assisted with 2-39 (06).
Bachan was named player-of-the-match for his brilliant all-round performance.
Sixteen teams competed in 2025 with West Coast Warriors tallying up the most points (26) to finish as number 1 and Imperial Cricket Club at 2 also with 26 points but West Coast Warriors had a better net-run-rate.
The tournament was sponsored by Deo and Sons.
Meanwhile, last Saturday night, West Coast Warriors held their annual presentation and award ceremony.
Bachan copped the Most-Valuable-Player prize while former Guyana youth cricketer Kevin Christian took home the best-batsman prize and pacer Javed Shafeek claimed the best-bowler award.
