Former Guyana Women’s Golf champ Deo, thrilled to be back in action
(Kaieteur Sports) One of Guyana’s premier Women golfers, Dr. Joaan said she’s thrilled to be back on the Fairways and Greens, following some time away from the game.
One of Guyana’s women’s golfers Dr. Joaan Deo is eager to resume her winning ways following a break.
Deo, who took some time away from the sport as she entered a new chapter of family and motherhood, recently worked her way back into form with a huge win this past weekend.
The former multiple-time Guyana Women’s champ, kept a tight grip on the competition this past weekend when she stormed the field to capture the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC)/ Trophy Stall Open.
Speaking briefly with Kaieteur Sports, Deo said she was keen to get back on the Greens after an extended time away, adding that she was happy to finish her first competitive tournament back on a winning note.
When asked on how she felt physically following a reasonable time away from golf and training, the ex-female champ explained that she was in a good space both mentally and physically despite not playing much golf recently.
She outlined that while time away from professional sports usually comes with its fair share of lags when attempting to hit the ground running, she maintained that her comeback form feels great and is keen on slowly working her way back to peak playing shape; as the days progress.
Looking ahead to more competition with a number of tournaments on the horizon including the Suriname Open, followed by the Guyana Open Cup; the pro golfer said she will be looking to make the most of the upcoming local tourneys in the weekends ahead; with some focus on doing well at the country’s premier championship.
