Kaieteur Sports – After several weeks of preparation, the Petra Organisation is set to launch the 2025 Boys’ Pee Wee Football Tournament today at the Ministry of Education Complex ground.
This year’s championship features 32 school teams competing in a round-robin format for a chance to advance to the next stage. The action begins at 10:00 AM with 14 exciting matchups scheduled for the opening day. As is customary, the event will commence with a ceremonial March Past, and all players, teachers, and coaches are asked to be at the venue on or before 10:00 AM to ensure a smooth start.
Now in its 12th year, the tournament continues to enjoy the support of the Unicomer Group of Companies through its Courts Optical brand. Chain Manager Richard Simpson will be present on match days to show his support for youth sports and development.
Demerara Mutual will also be on-site, ready to assist with any insurance-related matters, while Sterling Products Limited, a co-sponsor, will provide refreshments—helping to create a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
This year’s tournament features schools from across the country, including Linden, Bartica, East Berbice, West Coast Berbice, East Bank, West Coast Demerara, Essequibo, Barima-Waini, and Georgetown. Prizes will be awarded to the top eight teams, along with individual awards for outstanding players.
It’s that time of year again, when aspiring young footballers take to the field with dreams of being crowned champions of the nation’s premier primary school football tournament.
12th Courts Optical Pee Wee Under-11 Boy’s Football tournament gets underway today at MoE
Kicking off this year’s tournament, see Batavia Primary taking on St Mary Primary in the first match of the 2025 season, starting at 11:00 hours. After that see St John the Baptiste going up against St Theressa Primary, Potaro Primary will faceoff with Winfer Garden in match #3 while St Pius Primary battle Agatash Primary in match #4.
Defending champions Santa Rosa will open their campaign against Goed Fortune Primary, Charity Primary will tackle Friendship Primary at 1:00 pm, Marian Academy will go head-to-head Georgetown International Academy in match #7, West Ruimveldt will match skills with St Aloysius Primary.
Later in the day at 2:00pm, Genesis Academy goes up against Ann’s Grove, Clonbrook Primary versus Leonora, Stella Marris against Tucville Primary, Redeemer Primary will take on Smith Memorial in match #12 while Santa Rosa, North Goergetown, St Steven Primary and St Gabriels Primary will also be in action.
