Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Squash Association (GSA) is set to serve up an exciting and inclusive edition of the One Guyana Squash Tournament, slated to take place from September 24 to October 4 at the National Racquet Centre.
With a strong emphasis on unity and inclusivity. Only in its second year, the tournament is open to athletes across all levels and age groups. Players will compete in a wide range of categories including Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Boys’ and Girls’ Under-15, Boys’ and Girls’ Under-19, as well as a variety of doubles competitions such as Girls’ Doubles, Boys’ Doubles, Junior Mixed Doubles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.
The action gets underway on Wednesday, September 24, with the Doubles competition taking center stage. Quarterfinal spots will be determined on the opening day, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, September 25, and the doubles finals on Saturday, September 27.
The spotlight will then shift to the individual categories, beginning with the Round of 32 on Tuesday, September 30. The tournament will progress with the Round of 16 on Wednesday, October 1, followed by the quarterfinals on Thursday, October 2, and semifinals on Friday, October 3. The championship culminates with the highly anticipated finals on Saturday, October 4.
Attractive cash prizes will also be up for grabs for winners across all categories, recognizing the efforts of our young, seasoned and national athletes.
Competitions Director, Deje Dias have described the event as a celebration of talent and diversity within the squash community. “The One Guyana Tournament is more than just a competition, it’s about bringing together athletes from all backgrounds and giving them a platform to shine,” a GSA official stated.
Spectators can expect eight days of thrilling rallies, strategic play, and emerging young talent as the GSA continues its mission to promote squash across the nation.
