GSCL Inc. saddened by the sudden passing of former Guyana youth cricketer Rafik Khan

Kaieteur Sports – The Georgetown Softball Cricket League (GSCL) Inc. is saddened by the sudden passing of former Guyana youth left-arm spinner Rafik Khan on August 23 at his home in Florida, USA.

Khan represented Guyana from 1979 to 1983.

He was 62 when he died in his sleep.

President of the GSCL Inc. Ian John stated that they were shock to learn of Khan’s death.

According to John, Khan was an ardent supporter of softball cricket and was always with Regal team during their tour of Florida over the years.

John expressed his deepest sympathies and condolences to his family and friends during this time of bereavement.

The Georgetown-based team Regal is affiliated with the GSCL Inc. and they featured at a number of tournaments in Florida, Orlando and New York.

John highlighted that Khan was truly a softball passionate fan and would be in their camp while in Florida.

He will be missed as the cricketing fraternity is mourning having lost a die-hard fan.

Meanwhile, before his migration to North America, Khan played for his village-team Ogle and also Everest Cricket Club in Georgetown.

He left to grieve, his wife Nel and two children.
