Jiaram and Navin Meighbarran champions at Trophy Stall sponsored Emancipation Draughts Competition

Kaieteur Sports – A day filled with excitement, which was anticipated at the Transport Sports club, when the Trophy Stall sponsored Emancipation Day Draughts Competition was held. There were two category matches; one on the 10×10 and the other on the 8×8 boards.
On the 8×8 boards, Jiaram made a clean sweep with 13 points over Aubrey Rowe 10 points to win that category. Jiaram was undefeated in all his matches after winning 5 games and drew 3 as compared to his closest rival Aubrey Rowe who also won 5 matches and lost 3. Steve Bacchus and Navin Meighbarran both ended on 9 points to take the third and fourth positions. All four players were awarded with trophies sponsored by Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
On the 10×10 boards Navin took a narrow edge over Jiaram to win that category, he ended on 13 points. Navin won 5 games and drew 3, while Jiaram also won 5 games, drew 2 and lost 1, Jiaram ended on 12 points. In the third place was Steve Bacchus with 10 points. Anthony Douglas trailed with 8 points to claim the fourth prize.
All four players in that category were given prizes compliments of Gentle Elias Attorney at Law and Transport Sports club. Snacks and beverages were sponsored by M & M Snackette and Juice Power on Middle Street. GT Wines also supplied wines to toast the presentations.
The National Draughts Association would like to thank all the participants and Sponsors of the event.
Players are reminded that notifications for the upcoming Pan Am Draughts Tournament are out. The host country is Suriname and its slated for April 2026. President of the National Draughts Association Mr. Jiaram was advised by President of the PAMDCC to allocate and train at least one female and one youth player to be ready for the event.
