Fontaine century pushes Guyana on backfoot as Windwards stroll to 79-run victory

Kaieteur Sports – Earshino Fontaine dazzled with a sublime century yesterday to give Windwards a commanding 79-run win Guyana yesterday as U19 action continued.
Windwards racked up 262-8 after 50 overs, riding on knocks from centurion Fontaine, who stroked just 6 fours and a six off 118 deliveries along with skipper and opener Stephan Pascal who laid the foundation with 41 from 36 (6×4).
A lower-order spurt from Devonte McDowall (21), Kirsten Murray (17) and Isiah Jones (17*) further damaged the Guyanese bowling attack.
Left-arm spinner Golcharan Chulai (2-22), Captain and seamer Johnathan Van Lange (2-47) and Parmeshwar Ram (2-60), fought hard for their scalps.
However, their team couldn’t go past 183 runs which saw their campaign end with 2 balls left, as Sachin Balgobin (48) resisted alongside the likes of Riyad Latif (31), Romario Ramdehol (21) and Van Lange (18).
Windwards had a clinical bowling effort from the trio of Kirt Murray (3-26), Kirsten Murray (3-34) and Jones, who returned to claim 3-48. (C. Ross)
