Kaieteur Sports – Wakenaam Eagles defetaed Wakenaam Rhinos in the final of the Wakenaam Cricket Committee/New Doctor’s Clinic U19 40-over tournament on Saturday last at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground in Good Success.
Batting first, Wakenaam Rhinos made 148 all out in 31.1 overs. Tomesh Persaud made 30, Nazaam Mohamed 28 and Mohandass Surujpaul 19.
Ravy Nandalall claimed 3-19, Devendra Hansraj had 2-25 and Bhomesh Lall, 2-28.
Wakenaam Eagles replied with 154-6 in 18.5 overs. Hansraj struck 51 not out, Gladwin Henry made 26 and Justin Dowlin, 24 while Surujpaul snared 3-17 and Vinesh Ramnarine, 2-20.
The teams were locked at 2-2 prior to the final. Henry was the best tournament’s best batsman with 221 runs and Shahid Mohamed was the best bowler with 11 wickets.
