CWI Rising Stars U19 Men’s Tournament…
Kaieteur Sports – A collective assault from Guyana spurred them to an emphatic 54-run win over Barbados when the CWI Rising Stars U19 Tournament continued its round of exciting matches across T&T.
Guyana’s batting revolved around Joshua Rampersaud who hit 31 not out, Rampertab Ramnauth (35), Zachary Jodah (28) and Shamar Yearwood (18) and Zynul Ramsammy (17) who helped Guyana finish nicely on 178-9 in 50 overs, following a shaky start.
Saurav Worrell, Isaiah Folkes and Nathan Sealey grabbed 2 wickets each for Barbados who in reply to Guyana’s 1st innings score, were kept to 104-8 in 27.2 overs, thanks mainly to the combined efforts of Jeremy Sandia (2-21), Rampersaud (3-20) and fast-bowler Isai Thorne (2-25), who ripped through the Bajan batting order.
The Guyanese tapped into their talented line-up and as a result , exhibited brilliant all-round cricket which allowed them to gain momentum and advance to the next round with confidence.
In other matches played, Jamaica U19 beat Leeward Islands U19 by 6 wickets (D/L) and Windward Islanda U19 versus Trinidad & Tobago U19 was adjudged a no result.
