Kaieteur News – The Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) will host its Annual General Meeting and Elections on Sunday, January 29 at the Guyana Olympic Association headquarters at Lililendaal.
According to official correspondence from the GABF, their eight affiliates, before moving to elect a new body, will first hear remarks from president Michael Singh and General Secretary Patrick Haynes.
The GABF also invited representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA).
Singh will give his report, while the delegation will hear Treasurer Gavin Singh’s report on the GABF’s finances over the last four years.
Meanwhile, sources told Kaieteur News that Singh is tipped to return to the helm of the GABF, with some potential changes in the other areas on the GABF’s Executive Committee.
Under Singh’s leadership, Guyana has featured at various International tournaments under FIBA while making appearances at the Caribbean and Islamic Games.
Guyana also played back-to-back at the FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup tournaments in Miami.
However, the GABF’s local calendar was hampered by the COVID-19 Pandemic and while there has been some movement, at the sub-association level, the game has been stagnant.
