Guyanese athlete Lionel D’ Andrade continues to make a name for himself on foreign soil when he took the runner up spot in the Bigi Broki Waka 10k

which was held on Sunday last in Paramaribo, Suriname.
D’ Andrade finished the race in a time of 36 minutes and 38 seconds; the event was won by Janiek Pomba of Suriname who crossed the finish line in 36 minutes and 01 second. Shaquille Pikintio also of the host nation placed third in 37 minutes and 38 seconds.
D’Andrade said he is satisfied with his performance, adding that in the 2019 edition he finished 2nd overall and improved with his timing in the event this year, while Pomba placed sixth in 2019.
He informed that his next event is the KISS Baking Company 5k which is set for January 18 in Trinidad.
When quizzed about his performance in 2019, the athlete said that he is pleased with his achievements, indicating that he took part in 64 races and won 23.
D’Andrade expressed gratitude to his sponsor Builders Lumber Yard.
