RHT Namilco Thunderbolt Flour to face Albion in Saturdays final
The Area ‘H’ Ground located in Guyana’s smallest Township is expected to come alive on Saturday when the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) host the final of the 2019 BCB/RHTYSC/ Busta Champion of Champions tournament.
The first ball is expected to be bowled 10:30hrs and lots of fireworks is anticipated between the Berbice’ top two first division teams, featuring a number of leading players.
BCB President, Hilbert Foster has described the 16th edition of the tournament as a resounding success despite the decision of the cricket powers of Guyana to stop national contracted players from playing in a tournament hosted by the BCB.
This, Foster stated that is totally unfair but stated that no vindictive action would affect the train of progress that the Ancient County has enjoyed over the last 20 months. Playing at home, Rose Hall Town Namilco Thunderbolt Flour would be led by former national player Eon Hooper, who has been enjoying a good all-round year in his first season as Captain.
In the absence of Clinton Pestano, Kevlon Anderson and Kevin Sinclair, Namilco Thunderbolt Flour batting would be led by Junior Sinclair, Jason Sinclair, Surendra Kissoonlall, Eon Hooper, Jonathan Rampersaud, Keith Simpson and veterans, Khemraj Mahadeo and Delbert Hicks.
Pacers Keon Sinclair and Sylus Tyndall leads a strong fast bowling attack which will receive strong support from offspinners Junior Sinclair, Khemraj Mahadeo, Eon Hooper, Jonathan Rampersaud, Left arm spinner Keith Simpson and leg spinner Shawn Pereira.
Albion would be affected by the absence of Devindra Bishoo, Anthony Bramble, Veersammy Permaul and Gudakesh Motie but still boasts a strong team in both batting and bowling. National player Jonathan Foo leads the batting and would receive support from Kandasammy Surujnarine, Rajiv Ivan, Sharaz Ramcharran, David Latchaya, Jetendra Outar, Ritesh Umroa and Sarwan Chaitnarine.
Their spin bowling centers round national youth player Kelvin Umroa, Ivan, Ramcharran, Sarwan, Mahendra Chaitnarine, Kandasammy Surujnarine, David Latchaya and Jonathan Foo. The winning team would pocket $100,000, the runner up $50,000 while the Man-of-the-final would also be rewarded.
