2019 Courts 10k launched

Athletes will be licking their lips as the lucrative and annual Courts 10k road race is back and will run off on Sunday, September 15. The ninth edition of the event was launched yesterday at the sponsor’s head office on Main Street.

Odetta Aaron of Courts Guyana Inc. presents Aubrey Hutson of the AAG with the $2million cheque for the 9th Courts 10k road race slated for Sept. 15.

The event will speed off from 06:00hrs sharp and the head of the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG), Aubrey Hutson, noted that no late additions will be allowed into the race so athletes are encouraged to be on time.
Courts Guyana Inc. has contributed $2million to the marquee road race on the AAG’s calendar which will go towards the top finishers and logistics, while the junior athletes will receive vouchers for school supplies.
The total prize money remains at $1.15 million since its increase from $960,000 in 2018 and the top six overall finishers will benefit.
Courts Brand Manager, Odetta Aaron, was on hand at the launch and she expressed her company’s pleasure with partnering with the AAG for yet another year and noted that the event promises to be fun filled. In addition to the 10k, there will also be a golden mile race for the youth athletes and the 3k race for Courts Guyana Inc. employees.
The winners of the open male and female categories will pocket $100,000 each, while the immediate runners up will take home $80,000, $60,000, $40,000, $20,000 and $10,000 respectively.
Last year, Winston Missigher broke the winning streak of Cleveland Forde in the open men’s category, while Aliyah Moore won the open women’s category.
Hutson noted during the simple but significant ceremony that Banks DIH through their Rainforest Waters brand remains as part sponsors.
