Kaieteur Sports – Festival City’s campaign in the Guinness “Greatest of the Streets” Georgetown tournament ended in heartbreak on Friday night, as they suffered a 5–4 penalty defeat to Island All Stars at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac.
The quarterfinal stage delivered a series of tightly contested encounters, with penalty shootouts determining most of the semifinalists. When the dust settled, Island All Stars, New Bay Ballers, Leopold Street and Bent Street had all secured places in Wednesday’s semifinal clashes.
Island All Stars were the first to advance, edging Festival City in a tense sudden-death shootout after regulation play failed to separate the teams. Their victory set the tone for an evening dominated by high drama and decisive moments from the penalty spot.
In the second quarterfinal, tournament favourites National All Stars were upset 2–1 by New Bay Ballers. The newcomers showed composure under pressure, holding on to their narrow lead to book a place in the semifinals.
Leopold Street also progressed, overcoming a strong Gold Is Money side 2–1 on penalties following a goalless stalemate. Despite several close chances during open play, neither side found a breakthrough, leaving Leopold to prevail in the shootout and set up a semifinal meeting with New Bay Ballers.
Bent Street completed the semifinal lineup after defeating Sparta Boss in another closely fought contest. With neither team able to find the net in regulation time, the match was decided from the penalty spot, where Bent Street emerged as a 2–1 winner.

Frantic efforts! The story of the day as Guinness ‘Greatest of the Street’ delivers four exciting Quarterfinal’s matchups on Friday at the Cultural Centre Tarmac.
Meanwhile in the Guinness Plate segment, North East La Penitence, Team Cruel, Albouystown and Laing Avenue recorded victories to continue their respective campaigns.
The tournament resumes on Wednesday, April 29, at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac. Leopold Street will face New Bay Ballers, while Island All Stars take on Bent Street, with both matches set to determine the finalists ahead of the May 8 national championship.
