Tonight the Divine Entertainment Summer Super Cup twelve team championship semifinals are set for two rollicking encounters as a large crowd should converge at the tournament venue the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
The matches are expected to bring to rest who are going to reach the inaugural final and walk away with the bragging rights.
The first semifinal decision had to be put back to a playoff game between Group C clubs, Haynes and Lewis Winners Connection and Capital FC, they faced each other yesterday afternoon.
This was after Capital FC romped past Hi Stars by a 7-0 scoreline Friday night and their 1-0 win yesterday over Winners Connection at the Wisburg Secondary School ground has placed them to now face the second seed Net Rockers, who topped Group B, from 19.00hrs.
Previously the Haynes and Lewis Winners Connection and Capital FC played to a tied game in their previous Group C clash. Winners Connection had inflicted a similar 7-0 beating on Hi Stars earlier in the tournament, and that meant the two were locked on points forcing the game yesterday afternoon.
Capital FC on Friday night were led to their 7-0 drubbing as Andre Mayers led their charge with a hat-trick which came in the 4th, 25th and 77th minutes of play as Keon Sears got a double in the 55th and 65th minutes and one each from Tony ‘Spirit’ Adams and Emmanuel Atkins in the 35th and 79th minutes respectively.
Yesterday the Capital FC won by a 1-0 score to advance ahead of Winners Connection from Group C with the lone goal coming off the boot of Tony Adams when they played at the Wisburg Secondary School ground.
The other semifinal is after the first which is at 19.00hrs between Rockers and Capital FC and that game starts at 21.00hrs where to be featured are the top seed Eagles United who will look to get past the number three ranked Botafago in what is another crowd puller.
Botafago impressed in their 5-0 routing of Silver Shattas as Duquan Hercules led their shout with a brace in the 86th and 87th minutes after the Haynes brothers, Jamal in the 34th and Shane in the 48th, had given them a 2-0 lead and Runic Volloza completed their win with a goal in the 90th minute.
