The second-round of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) National Race of Champions has been scheduled for July 21st at the South Dakota Circuit, Timehri. The competition is expected to be well attended by racers with cash prizes up for grabs for the respective championship winners along with the best performing novice rider.

Shan Seejattan leading Rameez Mohamed during group two action during round one of the National Race of Champions.
Those respective championships are the Choke Starlet Cup, Miracle Optical Street Tuner Cup and Prem’s Electrical Sports Tuner Cup. At the end of the three leg season, the top driver from each of the sponsored classes will pocket $500,000 each.
However, a prerequisite for entry to any of these categories indicate that the sponsor’s logo for the category must be attached to the hood of the vehicle used for participation. A total of $100,000 is up for the biking newbie that registers the fastest lap time; sponsored by Mohamed’s Enterprise.
In addition, fans are anticipated to flock to the track since it will be the first time in the history of Motor Sport in Guyana that a ‘Time Attack’ event will be contested. Note: Time Attack racing is a type of motorsport in which the racers compete for the best lap time. Each vehicle is timed through numerous circuits of the track. The racers make a preliminary circuit, then run the timed laps, and then finish with a cool-down lap.
The top mechanic was recognised for the first time last year and the club will continue to do that this year. Balram Ramdeo of Balram Auto Mechanics is the current holder of the ‘Top Mechanic’ trophy.
After round one, Raymond Seebarran and Shan Seejattan were most outstanding behind four wheels, while Rameez Mohamed and Motilall Deodass shared the spoils in the Starlet Cup. The anticipated Group Four battles proved to be anticlimactic with two-time CMRC Champion, Andrew King the only finisher in the first group-four race with Kevin Jeffrey, Rupie Sewjattan and Keith Evelyn all falling out the contest.
In the second Group Four showdown, none of the competitors managed to finish the race.
Raymond Seebarran won two of the three races in the Miracle Optical Street Tuner Cup, to get a fantastic start to the championship trophy and $500,000 cash prize.
In the Prem’s Electrical Sports Tuner, Shan Seejattan won two of three races while Nasrudeen Mohamed Jr. won the other. Seejattan, who is also the defending Group -two champion got off his title defence positively with a win in the only race held in that class. The championship winner of that class will receive a round trip to Miami, USA.
Sponsors already confirmed for the event include E-Networks, Tropical Shipping, B.M. Soat Auto Sales, Mohamed’s Enterprise, Miracle Optical, Choke Gas Station, Special Auto, Prem’s Electrical, Nexus Machine Shop, Blue Spring Water, Motor Trend Service Center, Ramchand’s Auto Body, Power Line Automotive and KGM Security Services.
