Youth Basketball Guyana’s (YBG) National Schools’ Basketball Festival bounced back into action on Friday when the with three matches at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) in the Georgetown/East Coast Regionals leg. President’s College (PC) registered a thumping 32-6 win over YBG Cluster in the only under-14 boys’ fixture of the day.
Kamal Mentore was the star of the match with 13 points, nine rebounds and three steals with good assistance from Ezekiel Saul that netted five points while grabbing three rebounds.
The girls’ then took center stage with St. Stanislaus College (Saints) bouncing past Bladen Hall 9-4. Madison Chester was the stand out player for Saints with four points and six rebounds.
Defending girls’ division champions, Marian Academy then made very light work of Tutorial High School 34-1. Aaliyah Singh netted eight points, grabbed five rebounds and four steals to go along with Renika Ramcharran who also hooped eight points.
The tournamnet that is being sponsored by Edward B. Beharry & Company Ltd, the National Sports Commission, Banks DIH and ExxonMobil resumes next weekend at the same venue.
