Gibbon’s, Daw expect Ruralites to perform at Independence Meet
Coach of the Ruralites Track Club, Raymond Daw and 2019 Carifta gold medalist Anisha Gibbons are positive that their club, Ruralites, will show up and show out on May 18 and 19 when the Guyana Overseas-based Sports Association host their fourth edition of the Independence Track and Field Championships.
Appearing on radio show, Sports Vybz on Monday evening, Gibbons was confident that she will perform well at the event.
”I have to compete mostly with the senior men because I don’t have much competition here, I don’t beat them but I try my best to do well and I expect to do well, ” Gibbons noted.
Coach Daw shared that his club is ready and while some of his top athletes such as Osrick Pellew might not compete because of injury, he definitely believes that his club will match up well against their competitors over the two days of competition.
The Independence Track and Field Championships is an all age event, featuring kids from as young as under-10 who will compete for medals and trophies.
In addition, the organizing committee of the championships has added a number of rewards to athletes that do well at the competition.
The event will commence from 10 hours on both days.
