Corruption XI and Friends XI recorded victories when play in the Rafman Ali 15-over softball competition continued recently at Success, East Coast Demerara.
Corruption took first strike and posted 277-2 against Accomplishment. D. Ramroop scored 132 not out, while B. Boodhram made 97. Accomplishment were bowled out for 73 in 10 overs in reply. S. Scott made 34 as N. Ramdial bagged 5-16 and Kelvin Olford 3-15.
Up Top Boss batted first and got to 186-5 with Nick (only name given) and Pooran (only name given) made 74 and 50 in that order. B. Boodhram captured 2-10. Corruption XI responded with 187-5 in 13.3 overs. D. Ramroop scored 66 and S. Budhan 39.
Friends XI posted 217-6, taking first knock. S. Zambia led with 66, while D. Deosarran made 57. Up Top Boss were sent packing for 82 in 10 overs in response. G. Baljit snared 3-3 and S. Felix 2-18.
Friends XI rattled up 234-5, taking first strike. L. Chinapen struck 93 while D. Deosarran made 77. Accomplishment were bowled out for 62 in eight overs. G. Singh bagged 5-19. Line Top gained walk over from Mon Repos.
The competition continues today. Cliff XI will face Line Top, Corrupt XI will play Mon Repos, Accomplishment will take on Cliff XI and Corrupt XI will play Friends XI.
The competition is being sponsored by Harriram Furniture Shop, Shatter Max, Tony of Archie bar, Boy Mechanic Shop, Adi Electrical, Rameez Electrical, Rajesh Mechanic Shop, Durban Quarry and Regal Stationery and Computer Centre.
