Lucrative prizes are on offer and all is set for top cycling action in Berbice tomorrow when the best athletes in the country are expected to journey to the Ancient County to participate in the open event.
The race is being sponsored by overseas based former junior and national cycling champion Wilbert Benjamin and organised by the Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC) in observance of the 85th birthday of Benjamin’s father, Sanko.
Race time is set for 13:00hrs from the Benjamin’s Sports Store at Fyrish Village Corentyne proceeding to the No. 51 Police Station before returning to the place of origin for the finish.
Lucrative prizes are up for grabs in the 50-mile contest; the top six finishers overall along with the top three juniors, juveniles and veterans are to be rewarded. Eight sprint prizes are also on offer.
Sanko Benjamin is expected to be on hand to send the riders on their way and assist with the distribution of prizes. Randolph Roberts is the coordinator. (Samuel Whyte)
