The Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) Intermediate and Masters championships which were scheduled to be staged at the Banks DIH Sports Club on Sunday has now been switched to the National Gymnasium,
Mandela Avenue due to unforeseen circumstances.
Internationally renowned athletes in the form of Winston ‘Little Master’ Stoby and ‘Big’ John Edwards as well as Farouk Abdool are expected to be flexing their power muscles as they aim to set new standards.
Gyms from around Guyana are expected to throw down the gauntlet to each other in their quest to be known as the best.
Weigh-in will commence at 07:00hrs and last until 08:30hrs for female participants and the lighter weight classes. The main sponsor is Fitness Express, a sports supplements and exercise equipment supplier which has once again showed its support for powerlifting development in Guyana.
Athletes are reminded that the current IPF Rules regarding their attire will be in full effect including the Singlet 4″ Belt and Round Neck T-Shirt (Plain). Lifters are also being urged to see the 2016 IPF Rules for further details on requirements for both Equipped and Classic Lifting.
