Sparta Boss love/hate relationship with fans will be on full put on view this evening when they face Tiger Bay in a must win encounter to guarantee a place in the quarter-final of the Petra Organisation/GT Beer Futsal Competition.
Reputed to be the best team in the small goal format both in the streets and closed door, Sparta Boss despite fielding one of the strongest teams on paper have not looked as unbeatable as they usually are and will have to recapture that quality if they are to move on.
Stacked with players the calibre of Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson, Devon Millington, Sheldon Shepherd and Solomon Austin, the unit has not displayed the usual smoothness and deadly accuracy that they are known for with a narrow win and a loss against Agricola Champion Boys and Back Circle to show for their efforts to date.
On the other hand, Tiger Bay opened with an impressive come from behind draw against Back Circle, before raising their level to register a morale boosting 3-2 triumph over Agricola Champion Boys.
A draw will be enough for them to secure a spot in the next phase, while a loss will most certainly leave them clinging for one of the two best third place finishers.
Deon Alfred, Alpha Fletchman, and Mario Batson form a formidable attacking force and they will be hard to contain.
It promises to be a sizzling affair and one for the fans to see.
In the other Group A Clash, Back Circle go up against Agricola Champion Boys in another fixture that has generated great interest.
Back Circle has been without their influential leader Andy Duke and has opted for a much younger side that is playing unbelievably good football.
Selwyn Williams, Stephon McLean and Sylvester Richardson are the lynchpin of their attack, while Agricola will be led by Delray Dodson.
In Group-B
In the West Front Road versus Tucville affair, the former West Front Road has virtually qualified for the next phase and even a loss would not affect their chances while a win for Tucville could open the door for their qualification.
West Back Road versus North East La Penitence
North East La Penitence could qualify with a win, whilst West Back Road will have to rely on other results and a huge win to improve their chance of going further.
Group-C
Albouystown versus Broad Street is more formality than anything else with the latter favourites to win this encounter and join the race for a third place qualifier.
Bent Street versus Sophia is another blockbuster matchup that is expected to produce fireworks.
Sophia’s unbeaten run has sealed their berth n the next phase, but defending champs Bent Street cannot afford a slipup which if it happens can put them in a difficult position.
What is certain another huge turnout and some enthralling battles throughout the night.
Below are the fixtures for this evening:
19:30 hrs Agricola Champion Boys vs. Back Circle
20:15 hrs West Back Road vs. North East La Penitence
21:00 hrs Broad Street Bullies vs. Albouystown
21:45 hrs West Front Road vs. Tucville
