“Xercise,” a sports development organisation designed to develop sports persons off field yesterday hosted a successful programme at the at Ministry of Edcation, Department of Youth Culture and Sports Boardroom on Main Street with students from several schools in Georgetown attending.
Director of the programme former national cricketer Royston Alkins explained that “Xercise” is a sport development initiative that caters for athletes’ development off the field.
He stated that it helps to get them to speak better in front of camera, and what to say and what not to say.
President of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), Roger Harper, who was in attendance said such events will help to develop rounded sportspersons and they will be better prepared to represent their country if an opportunity arises.
Sessions were held at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), St. Roses High and Queens College.
The significance of the programme was in observation of United Nations’ (UN) Day of Sports for the Development of Peace.
