Will be awarded club’s Dolphin of Excellence Award
His Excellency, President David Granger would headline the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club’s Silver Jubilee Anniversary Tribute to Heroes Programme on Sunday 25th October, 2015. The historic ceremony would be hosted at the St. Francis Community Developers and would involve the honouring of the top twenty five cricketers produced by the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club over the period 1990 – 2015 and recognising the contributions of sixteen outstanding administrators over the History of Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation.
His Excellency, President David Granger would deliver the feature address, assist in the distribution of Awards and receive the Dolphin Award of Excellence, the highest award of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club. President of the Club, Keith Foster would give Opening remarks while Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster would provide a comprehensive report of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club over its twenty five (25) years history. Director of Sports Christopher Jones, Minister of Sports Nicolette Henry and Minister of Tourism Catherine Hughes have all been invited and are expected to make brief remarks.
The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club first played cricket at the Berbice Cricket Board level in January 1991 against home team, Ankerville in an Under-19 clash. To date, the Club has won over 40 titles at the Under-15, 17, 19, 23, Female, Second and First Division levels.
It has also won two male national cricket championships (2004 & 2005) while the Metro Female team won the national female championship in 2009. The RHTY&SC has also produced one Test player, One, ODI player, one West Indies Sixes player, two West Indies Female players, six national seniors, 37 national juniors and a total of 97 for Berbice at all levels.
The combined cricket teams have also completed over 2000 community related programmes/activities over the years, that have touched the lives of countless youths through sports, education, charity, anti-drugs, anti-suicide, religious and youth development among others.
West Indies Test player Assad Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Shemaine Campbelle, Neil Williams and Major James Fraser would be honoured as the top five Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club cricketers among other awardees.
