Kaieteur Sports – New Central High School has secured its place in the Final Eight of the national schools’ football tournament, achieving the milestone in its third year of participation.
The team’s journey has been driven by consistent performances, with Amanda Saunders finding the back of the net at every stage of the competition. At the other end of the field, goalkeeper Latifa Ramsey has been a standout performer, producing a series of crucial saves during the Region 10 competition on Saturday, June 27, as Mackenzie High relentlessly pressed for an equaliser.
Following the completion of the Round of 16, President’s College and The New Central High have officially advanced to the Final Eight. President’s College finished the weekend with a perfect record of three wins from three matches, while The New Central High progressed after recording one victory and two draws.
With weather conditions forcing a postponement in Region 9, the final qualifying team will be determined on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
