Ten sprint prizes, cash and the Baker’s trophy will be up for grabs tomorrow when the Linden Bauxite Flyers Cycling Club in collaboration with the Guyana Sports Development Foundation (GSDF) hosts its fourth Annual Bakers Memorial Classic Day of Cycling.
According to President of the Linden Bauxite Flyers Cycling Club, Okel Arthur, there will be five categories; senior, junior, veterans, ladies and juveniles. Arthur said the memorial day of cycling is in honour of Mr. Baker whose son was a former cyclist.
Defending champion John Charles will defend his title against Orville Hinds, Michael Anthony, Shaquel Agard, Akeem Arthur and Silvio Inniss from Linden and from Georgetown Alonzo Greaves, Robin Persaud, Hamza Eastman, Marlon Williams, Paul De Nobrega, Scott Savory and US Based Geron Williams.
In the Junior category Rafael Leaung, Jamal John, Ramelo Crawford, Andrew Hicks, Jernel Yearwood and Denzel Huntley will battle.
Arthur said the Seniors and Juniors race will start at the Baker’s residence, David Rose Avenue to Long Creek and back, while the veterans, ladies and juveniles will proceed to Kairuni Creek and back.
