The outstanding performances of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) on and off the field of play continue to receive the thumbs up from many corporate entities. One such entity is Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) under their PEPSI brand which is internationally renowned.

DDL’s Larry Wills (left) hands over one of the T-shirts to Hilbert Foster as a sign of their commitment to the RHTY&SC team.
They have renewed sponsorship of the Rose Hall Town Under-19 team for the 11th successive year. PEPSI became the official sponsors of the RHT Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate teams in 2004 after they replaced the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company which had decided to sponsor the club’s Pro-Education campaign.
Secretary/CEO of the RHTY&SC Hilbert Foster extended gratitude to DDL and PEPSI for their continuous investment in the development of youths of the club, stating he was pleased to be associated with the popular international soft drink brand.
He said that over the years, the teams have represented the brand with pride, passion, discipline and dedication.
The RHT Under-19 team have won the Berbice Under-19 championship four times and have produced a total of 21 national junior players including the likes of Assad Fudadin, Abdel Fudadin, Dominic Rikhi, Askay Homraj, Shemaine Campbell, Plaffina Millington, Clinton Pestano, Khemraj Mahadeo, Delbert Hicks, Shawn Pereira, Shailendra Shameer, Brandon Prasad, Erica Hashley and Shabika Gajnabi.
Forty-four of the club’s players have also represented Berbice over the years. RHT Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate teams in 2013 completed over forty Self-Development programmes that touched and changed the lives of thousands of youths and less fortunate families.
The Intermediate team are the current BCB Intermediate Neal and Massay champions. This year, both teams have set themselves a target of fifty self development programmes.
Cricket Manager and Office Manager of the RHTYSC, Moonish Singh, disclosed that the Pepsi teams like the rest of the club’s teams have been restructured and this year the Under-19 side would be led by Nicholas Cameron with Askay Homraj as his deputy.
West Indies female all-rounder Shemaine Campbell would be in charge of the Intermediate team while her deputy is Under-19 player Devin Baldeo. Moonish Singh is Manager. Winston Smith has been named Coach of the team. Ronston Lawson and Sohan Harry are the Assistant Managers.
DDL’s PEPSI Brand Manager Larry Wills stated that his company was pleased to be associated with the RHTY&SC, noting that the club has represented the brand well in the past.
He expressed best wishes for a successful 2014 and called on all the players to uphold the high tradition of dedication and discipline.
