Sharaz Ramcharran and an 8-wicket match haul from Guyana Under-19 left arm spinner, Gudakesh Motie, Albion Community Centre was defeat their Blairmont counterparts by an innings and 38 runs to earn their place in the semifinals of the 2011 Memorex/Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Under-17 competition in Berbice.
In their quarter final game played at Blairmont Ground, Blairmont Community Centre won the toss, chose to bat, losing an early wicket with just two runs on the board.
However, Kemchand Persaud and Berbice Under-17 batsman, Nick Ramsaroop, repaired the damage, taking the score to 31 for 1 when Motie and subsequently Ramcharran were introduced into the attack by Albion; their introduction saw a rapid decline with Blairmont slipping to 39 for 4 and eventually 58 all out.
Persaud and Ramsaroop each scored 13. Ramcharran took 6 for 9 from 9.1 overs and Motie 3 for 18.
When Albion Community Centre replied, their opening batsmen, Baldeo and Shivnarine Shrikishun made light work of the first innings target, going on to post 148 between them before Baldeo fell on 99 going for a big shot. His knock included 7 fours and 1 six. With Shrikishun going on to reach 50 not out (2 fours), Albion declared at 180 for 3.
Facing a deficit of 122 runs, Blairmont got a better start this time from their openers, Ridwan Ramjohn and Ramsaroop, who did well to put on 49 for the first wicket. However, after that, Motie and Ramcharran practically dismantled the innings, seeing them decline from 49 for 0 to 84 all out, Motie grabbed 5 for 27 (match figures of 8 for 45) and Ramcharran 4 for 25 to end the game with match figures of 10 for 34.
