Kares Engineering/Bushy Park Sawmills/GSL 10/10 Tape-ball Cricket tournament
Firelinks on Sunday headlined a list of qualifiers for the Super Eight round of the competition in the heated Kares Engineering/Bushy Park Saw Mills and Guyana Softball League (GSL) Cricket tournament on Sunday at the Wisroc Ground, Linden.
Based on the East Bank, Firelinks turned up to compete against Classic Cricket Club (CCC) of Linden in major showdown of the day. However, CCC were a no-show and the match had to be handed to Firelinks on a rainy Sunday in the Mining Town.

All systems were in place to host what would have been a riveting day of tape-ball cricket. The respective teams from out of Linden had turned up to challenge the town’s best teams in a round of 16 playoffs for a place in this weekend’s Super Eight.
Firelinks qualified in the senior male category, while Leonora All-Stars, Leguan’s Young Bloods and La Venture were the school teams that booked a ticket for this weekend. Their opposition in Linden all failed to turn up to challenge them for their places.
The hype, the energy and the rivalry of the tournament will now be shifted to Georgetown for the Super Eight round. Over six million is up for grabs in the nation-wide tournament that concludes on September 4 at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence.
