Guyana’s junior 400m sensation, Stephan James continued his consistency, internationally, at the Pan American Junior Championships yesterday morning at Ansin Sports Complex, Florida when he placed second in his Heat to reach the final of the race.
Running out of Heat 1 of the race, James was second in 47.27 seconds behind American, William Henry II (46.90). Brazil’s, Anderson Henriques was third in 47.35 seconds. James’ time was the fourth fastest qualifying time for the 400m final yesterday.
In Heat 2, Trinidad and Tobago’s, Deon Lendore won in 46.86 seconds for the fastest qualifying time with Ronell Mance in second with 47.13 seconds.
Together with Henry II’s time, the two qualifying times were the only ones ahead of James’.
The locally-based James, who is competing at the event along with three other US-based athletes, ran in the final of the race last night.
He is set to also compete in the 200m event.
