The Guyana Cricket Board in a release in tribute to the life of the Late Lennox Hunte stated that the body is saddened at the news of his passing.
Mr. Hunte, the GCB said, has been a long serving member of the game of cricket in Guyana and has, over the years, served the GCB well.
Mr. Hunte was a member of the Junior Selection Panel, before being appointed Chairman, a position which necessitated travel to areas across Guyana to identify the young talent available and to select the best from among them.
Mr. Hunte also gave service as a liaison official, looking after the care and comfort of members of teams participating in Regional and International tournaments in Guyana. As Chairman of the panel of selectors, he was co-opted to the Board’s executive and made positive contributions to the discussions and debates on the administration of Guyana’s cricket. He freely shared the wide experiences he had gained from participating as player, captain and administrator of cricket in Demerara. Guyana’s cricket has lost someone who had a great love for the game; who had a passion for the sport and who gave selflessly of his time and energy in serving its interest.
We shall miss him. The Board extends deepest condolences to his family, his friends and his colleagues in their moment of grief.
