Four outstanding performances from Under-17 players led Rose Hall Town Bakewell to a crushing 10 wicket win over Tain Block A at the Area ‘H’ ground when play in the NBS 2nd division cricket tournament continued.
Batting first, Tain Block ‘A’ were dismissed for 105 in 33.2 overs; only A. Chattergoon offered any resistance with a disciplined 33 which contained 3 fours while extras contributed 20.
Fourteen year-old Berbice Under-15 leg spinner Shawn Perreira grabbed 5-33 while his Berbice teammate Lloydel Lewis snared 4-8 as they spun webs around the Tain batsman.
In reply former national Under-15 opening batsman Clinton Pestano and Dominic Ricky both blasted fifties as Rose Hall Town Bakewell reached 109 without losing a wicket off 13.1 overs. Pestano was left unbeaten on 53 (3 fours & 4 sixes) while Rickey was on 50 (5 fours & 1 six).
RHTB in their other match defeated Port Mourant by 52 runs at the same venue. Batting first Rose Hall Town Bakewell reached 222-9 off their allotted 40 overs with the principal scorers being Ravi Narine with an unbeaten 46, Dominic Rickey 45, Clinton Pestano and Eon Hooper 30 each. Shilendra Sameer took 5-54 and Michael Veersammy 2-40 for Port Mourant who in reply were sent crashing for 170 in 39.5 overs. Krishanad Narine led with 36, Sameer 34 and Maliadeo Veersammy 32.
Bowling for Rose Hall Town Bakewell, Eon Hooper and Ravi Narine had identical figures of 3-26 and Dominic Rickey 2-21.
Rose Hall Town Bakewell next faces Belvedere United at the Area ‘H’ ground as they seek to add to the four Berbice 2nd division titles won over the years.
