Over 50 horses entered for Anjue and Hamlet Park horserace meet Sunday
Horses racing action goes to Mahaicony on the East Coast Demerara on Sunday October 4 when the Anjue and Hamlet Park’s race track stages a grand one day horserace meet at the club’s track at its Mahaicony Branch Road location.
There are eight races listed on the day’s card with close to $3M in prizes money up for grabs. Among the main events are the C & Lower event with a first prize of $300,000 over a distance of 1200m. Horses such as Irish Gel, Sequins, Sweet Caramel, Laura Lee in Flight and Pinch D Cash have already taken entry.
Another feature event on the day’s card is the three year old open sponsored by Banks DIH and will see the horses going at each other over 1200m for the first prize of $200,000. Top of the Line, Sweet Romance, Zip A De Do Dah and Over the Map will all be entering the starting gates. The F and lower 1200m sprint is another key match up with first prize of $180,000.
The Gap, Laura Lee in Flight, Pinch D Cash and Rude Boy are among the starters.
The 2yr old race will be for horses in the ‘I’ three category, where only locally bred horses will be allowed to participate and will be an 1100m affair with the winner also collecting $180,000.
The H class open 1200m gallop promises a keen contest with the winner getting $120,000 and will once again see favourites Bad News and Baby Boy clashing for championship honours.
Other races on the day are for I three and lower horses also over 1200m with a $100,000 purse.
The division one and two 1200m event will see the winner taking home $90,000.
The final event on the days programme also a 1200m contest is for horses in the division three category with a winners money of $80,000.

Horse owners are also reminded to get their horses properly registered with the Guyana Horse Racing Authority, as those horses not properly entered will not be allowed to participate in the days proceedings.
