All systems are in place for the grand one day horse race meet organized by the Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with the True Friends committee today at Rising Sun racetrack, Arima Park, West Coast Berbice.
Eight races have been carded on the day’s programme with over $2.5M in cash and other incentives being up for grabs.
The feature C class event over 1600m with a first prize of $300,000, which has been sponsored by Banks DIH Limited, once again is the main drawing card. Miss Republic, The Message, Jumbo Joy, Sequins, Irish Gel are the hot favourites in what is being anticipated as a gruelling event.
The three year old open gallop over 1400m for horses Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies is another feature event on the day’s programme. The winning prize has been tagged at $250,000. La Bayamosa, Sweet Romance, Coconut Boy, Royal Champion, Sea Rocket, Zip a de Do Dah and Top of the Line are expected to clash in this encounter.
Some $200,000 has been set aside for the winner in the two year old 1300m gallop for horses Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies. Horse such as Peaceful, Zionetta, Justice Leroy and Jem’s Pride will highlight the starters in that category.
The F Class event has a purse of $160,000 and will see the horses sprinting over 1100m.
The G and lower showdown will be run over 1400m with a winner’s prize of $100,000.
The other races listed for the day’s programme are all 1100m events and will see the animals competing in the H and lower, the J and K the L class categories. Victory in these races will see the champion taking home $90,000, $80,000 and $70,000 respectively.
There animals expected to make their mark on the days programme are Alphabet, Bad News, Sunday Star, Natural Black, Face D Music, Finishing Touch and Casino Royal.
Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall in Bourda Market will once again be sponsoring the champion jockey and champion trainer trophies. Race time is 13:00hrs.
