Sunburst Camptown to defend Mackeson/Digicel Sweet 16 title
Competition starts on Tuesday at Plaisance ground

Sunburst Camptown are set and ready to defend the Mackeson / Digicel Sweet 16 football title when they face Golden Stars of East Demerara in the tournament’s first game on Tuesday evening at the Plaisance ground, East Coast Demerara.
The feature game will see BK International Western Tigers, who placed 3rd last year taking on BV Triumph United.
But prior to the on field battles a grand opening ceremony and launch is slated to commence at 17:00hrs. All the participating teams are expected to be present for the March Past where a number of Executives from the two main sponsors are expected to deliver brief remarks. Camptown, who defeated the GDF in the last final 2-0 with ten players, are currently enjoying ominous form and will go into this knock-out competition oozing with confidence of retaining the crown but they will have to play and play hard football since the other teams will also be gunning to take the title.
Carrying the host association quest to win the title is eight of their clubs with six from the city and one each from Linden and Berbice.
The winning team will pocket $400,000 while the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers will receive $200,000, $100,000, and $75,000 respectively.
The tournament MVP will be rewarded with one pair of boots, ball and hose compliments of Colours Boutique.
