The Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) will serve off its 2009 season with a Female All-Fours Competition for the President’s Trophy tomorrow, at the National Park.
Four teams are expected to compete in this exciting form of the game which starts at 10:00 hrs.
According to a release, the GVF will be placing more emphasis on activities outdoor such as Beach Volleyball with the aim of highlighting the sport to the public thus creating the stimulus to increase the players’ pool.
President of the Federation Lenox Shuffler speaking with Kaieteur Sport disclosed that despite the late start to the season, the Body proposes to intensify activities among the affiliated associations which can assist in re-invigorating interest in the game.
“We are presently awaiting word from the Berbice affiliate about its planned activities since as you know is one it is of our stronger associations that has members who exhibit a real passion for the sport,” Shuffler said.
Meanwhile, the Male All-Fours is planned for the next weekend at the same venue and clubs from West Demerara, Georgetown and Berbice are expected to participate in the day’s activities.
