PC fifth form students stages b/ball competition
– as part of CXC PE Assessment
Some ambitious President College (PC) fifth form students will commence a basketball competition today at the Saint Stanislaus court as part of their Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) Physical Education (PE) Assessment.
One of the student-coordinators of the School–Based Assessment (SBA) project, Esther Kursatte told Kaieteur Sport yesterday that the competition will replace their ‘Annual Inter–School Relay Championships’ at Enmore. For the past three years, President College has pulled off a highly successful relay track meeting at Enmore. However, Kursatte informed this newspaper that due to inclement weather, the event will not be staged this year.
“It (the basketball competition) is expected to be the same impeccable [and] exciting sport event [just as the relay championships],” the articulate student said. The success of the event will reflect their final CXC grade.
The three-day basketball competition will see Georgetown schools: Saints, Bishops High, Queens College and Marian Academy square off on the opening day today in the first set of preliminary games at Saints basketball court.
The competition will shift location tomorrow (Wednesday) to the President College court where the East Coast–based secondary schools (including PC): Golden Grove, Cove and John and Bladen Hall will challenge each other.
According to Kursatte, the final will be held on Thursday at President’s College and even though she did not say whether their will be a third place game, the student did indicate that the competition gets underway at 2pm. (Edison Jefford)
