In-form national under-19 left-hander Jeetendra Sookdeo hit a confident 40 before he was stupendously caught on the boundary by Altaf Habibulla as GCC continued their unbeaten streak in the DeSinco under-19 40-overs cricket competition, while DCC registered a win in the other game yesterday in the competition for City teams.
At Malteenoes, Sookdeo, who hot back-to-back centuries last weekend, again looked competent but only national under-17 selectee Delon Fernandes (11) and Parmanand Ramkissoon (13) offered any support as GCC fell for 113 in 33.2 overs.
Under-15 off-spinner Shaquelle Williams took 3-12 and got support from fellow off-spinners Jonathan Alphonso (2-14) and Daniel Greavesande (2-14) in a losing cause for the host.
Winston Forester (4-17) left-arm spinner Raj Nanan (3-14) and Elon Fernandes (2-13) combined to dismiss Malteenoes for 70, despite a painstaking 30 from national under-17 selectee Kwame Crosse.
At GNIC, National under-19 player Royston Alkins made 35 to spur DCC to 150 against Everest who were bowled out for 80 in 16 overs.
Akeem Mathland supported Alkins with 28 as Javeed Rashad took 2-17 for Everest as West Indies under-15 leg-spinner Amir Khan top-scored with 35 for the Camp Road team.
Off-spinner Toralva Scipio took 3-5 while Matthew Marques (2-14), Troy Nurse (2-18) and Steve Jaigobin (2-30) were the best bowlers for DCC.
