Police probe fisherman’s death
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 57-year-old fisherman, Mehabood Alli, who died at the Woodlands Hospital yesterday.
A police press release stated that initial investigations revealed that Alli, of Conservancy, Canal Number One Polder, West Bank Demerara, was involved in a physical altercation with another man at about 07:30hours yesterday after which he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A suspect is reportedly in custody assisting with investigations. A post mortem examination will be conducted soon.
