Heavyweights collide as Lotto/Let’s Bet T10 Tapeball heads to East Bank and West Demerara
Kaieteur Sports – If the electrifying nocturnal action at Albion set the benchmark for the Lotto/Let’s Bet One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast, the upcoming East Bank/West Demerara (EBD/WCD) leg threatens to crank the intensity up another notch.
Fresh off a masterclass performance in Berbice—where New Amsterdam’s Grillmaster Sip N Play All-Stars pocketed G$500,000 courtesy of Sawa Investment and became the tournament’s first official qualifiers—the travelling cricket showcase now pivots toward a stacked weekend of elimination clashes.
The draw has thrown defending zone champions Eccles All-Stars and Mahdia Movements Family into the deep end alongside established heavyweights Village Rams and Airport SVC among some new and talented units.
It is a line-up that leaves virtually zero margin for error.
“The thrills we witnessed under the lights at Albion in Berbice were nothing short of sensational, but this upcoming zone promises even more intensity,” organiser John Ramsingh declared. “When you look at the draw, having two previous zone champions in Eccles All-Stars and Mahdia (Movements Family) coming in alongside formidable powerhouses like Village Rams and Airport SVC, every single ball is going to be a battle.”
The action unfolds on Saturday, August 15, across four venues with admission free to the public.
Farm Ground will host the opening salvo at 10:00 AM as Soesdyke XI face Laluni Sports Club, followed by The Elite Conquerors taking on Eccles All-Stars. Over at Goed Fortuin Ground, Village Rams meet Brave Heart before Team Eastsyde tangle with Vintage All Stars.
Meten-Meer-Zorg features Knight Riders against Young Steppaz alongside Young Guns taking on Airport SVC, while Uitvlugt Ground sees Hyde Park face Trendsetter and Zeelugt Sports Club clash with Mahdia Movements Family.
The respective ground winners will battle in the afternoon quarter-finals to secure passage into Sunday’s final four.
Meten-Meer-Zorg will then host the grand finale on Sunday, August 16. The semi-finals are scheduled for 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, culminating in the zone final at 3:00 PM to crown the regional champions.
Beyond securing a coveted place in the National Finals on Sunday, October 11, at the Anna Regina National Stadium—where a monumental G2 million top prize, alongside G1 million and G500,000 for second and third place, awaits- there is plenty of immediate silverware and cash on the line.
The EBD/WCD zone runners-up will walk away with G200,000 donated by Mohamad Shairaz Roshandin, while losing semi-finalists take home G50,000 each.
Courtesy of ScoopRide, every losing quarter-finalist will also receive G25,000.
Once the EBD/WCD champions book their date with destiny against Sip N Play, the T10 caravan will roll into the Essequibo Zone from August 22–23, culminating with the regional finals at the Anna Regina National Stadium on August 23.
