Kaieteur Sports – Action in the Smalta, in partnership with NSC MCYS ASTP, A. Munroe organised Return of Primary School Girls Windball Cricket which was last played in 2019, continued with matches at the National Gymnasium.
Saint Thomas More Primary School are now set to play in their first finals in the history of Windball Cricket.
During Semifinals action: Saint Thomas More won the toss and elected to bat and scored 52 – 5 with Mya Pereira 14, Zachera Richmond 12. Ashanti Smith took 2-wkts.
Saint Pius, the school with the a number of titles in their name, were restricted to 38-3. Ashanti Smith scored 10, while Kezia Washington took 2wkts for the winners.
In the other game, West Ruimveldt after winning the toss invited Rama Krishna to bat and they made 59-5.
West Ruimveldt replied with 59-1, Daeshiah Layne made 18.
Also present at the venue, once again and witnessed both games was, Guyana’s only two times Olympian Table Tennis player, who also played Windball Cricket during her Primary school days at Mae’s, Chelsea Edghill.
She mentioned to the schools she stood at the venue like they are now in a semifinal game but her school lost that match.
The final fixtures will see Rama Krishna vs. Saint Pius in the 3rd place match.
Saint Thomas More then play West Ruimveldt in the final.
Both games are scheduled to be played in the night so as to give the parents the golden opportunity to witness their children being involved in sports. Date to be announced shortly.
