Kaieteur Sports – More than 100 Grade 10 students from Camille’s Academy’s Lusignan, Soesdyke, Diamond and Crane campuses were introduced to the game of golf on Friday through a special development session conducted by Guyana Golf Association (GGA) President Aleem Hussain and LPGA/USGA Girls Golf Site Director Philip Haynes at the Guyana-China Friendship Park.
The initiative forms part of the school’s preparation for the 2027 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Physical Education programme and represents the largest private school group in Guyana to explore golf as a PE elective.
The session concluded with a friendly competition among the four campuses, with the Crane location emerging as the overall champion.

Over 100 Grade 10 students from Camille’s Academy’s Lusignan, Soesdyke, Diamond and Crane campuses linked up as part of their introduction to golf ahead of 2027 CSEC.
Principal Ms. Camille expressed her excitement at the students’ response to the programme.
“At Camille’s Academy, we are committed to exposing our students to a wide range of educational and sporting opportunities.
Golf is a sport that develops patience, discipline, integrity and critical thinking, all of which are valuable life skills. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Guyana Golf Association as we prepare students for the CSEC Physical Education programme.”
GGA president Aleem Hussain praised the school’s vision and willingness to embrace a non-traditional sport within its academic curriculum.
“Camille’s Academy is setting an excellent example by giving students access to a sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime while also creating educational and scholarship opportunities.
Introducing more than 100 students to golf in a single session is a significant milestone for junior golf development in Guyana.”
Camille’s Academy is also expected to participate in the National Junior Open Golf Championship on July 3 at the Westside Golf Course in Vreed-en-Hoop.
The tournament is expected to attract hundreds of young golfers from across the country competing for school and individual honours, as well as opportunities for selection to Guyana’s National Junior Team.
The GGA continues to work closely with schools, community organizations and corporate partners to expand access to golf and create opportunities for youth development throughout Guyana.
