PLAY International Launches Youth Basketball and Leadership Tour across Guyana

Kaieteur Sports – PLAY International will be staging the 2026 Toni Burnett Youth Cultural Exposure Tour, taking place across Guyana from yesterday July 30 through August 5, 2026.

The week-long initiative will bring experienced coaches and mentors from the United States together with local basketball clubs, schools, and community leaders to provide young athletes with basketball training, leadership development, mentorship, and educational workshops.

The tour will make stops in:

July 30 (yesterday) — Kwakwani
Kwakwani Basketball Club
July 31 (today) — Linden
Kid Rock Basketball Club
August 3 — East Berbice-Corentyne
Skeldon Line Path Secondary School
August 4 — West Demerara
D-Up Basketball Academy
August 5 — Georgetown
The Bishops’ High School

The coaching team is led by Pierre Godette, a former Guyana National Basketball Team player and educator with more than 20 years of coaching experience. He is joined by Mari Dortch Diaz and Adrian Dixon, both experienced coaches and mentors committed to youth development on and off the court.

The tour is directed by PLAY International Founder and Executive Director Michaela Burnett, a former Guyana national basketball player who has supported basketball and youth development in Guyana since 1994.
