Greaves’ recent historic performance, new ICC ranking huge pluses for Windies
– Shamar Joseph also in World’s top 10

Kaieteur Sports – After chunking out a huge piece of cricket history for himself, West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves was recently rewarded for his record-setting heroics with the ball versus Pakistan as he broke into the ICC top 10 list of Test all-rounders in the world; a welcome shot in the arm for a team that has been on a strong wave this year.
Just days ago, Pakistan looked immovable after Shan Masood dropped a majestic ton, but when his team needed a hero, the 32-year-old Barbadian all-rounder answered the call by rewriting cricket history books with two back-to-back spells which won the game for his team.

Always a nifty operator with the ball, the Bajan had always shown his potential as a possible ‘Ace up the sleeve ’, so to speak, with his 31 Test wickets coming at an average of 29.03 while keeping his Economy Rate well under 4 runs per over after just 17 matches played.
By the time Pakistan knew what hit them, the medium-pacer’s returns told the entire story: 5 overs, 5 maidens, 5 wickets, including Pakistan’s key players like Mohmmad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Mohammad Abbas, Khurram Shahzad and Mohammad Ali.
Legendary England fast-bowler Stuart Broad’s record of four consecutive wicket-maidens was also shattered in this swoop move by the Windies utility player, who single-handedly triggered a spectacular Pakistan collapse, finishing with career-best first-innings figures of 5/27.
Coupled with his 202* against New Zealand in Christchurch, as well as his recent 180 against Sri Lanka, Greaves remains a key figure in the Test team not only with bat but now possibly finding his role as the team’s x-factor or secret weapon during tough situations in a Test match.
Alongside his match figures of 5/27 and 2/12, which secured a 90-run win for the West Indies, a new milestone was etched next to his name as he shot eight spots to 9th in the ICC Test All-Rounder Rankings.
His world record of 5 consecutive wicket-maidens in a single Test innings has somehow given the Windies additional momentum coming off a strong 2026 thus far, with even more ground to cover going forward collectively.
Guyana’s Shamar Joseph is at number 10 on the list. Joseph has shown his ability with the bat adding to his fast bowling accolades.
