IMC approves tournament zones for the Over 40s World Cup 2026 in Guyana

Georgetown, Guyana – The Cricket West Indies Masters Association (CWIMA), in collaboration with its parent body, the International Masters Cricket (IMC), is pleased to announce that the official tournament zones for the IMC Over 40s World Cup 2026 have now been approved by the IMC Tournament Committee.

The tournament will be hosted in Guyana from October 17 to November 1, 2026, bringing together 16 nations from across the globe to compete for the title of 2026 IMC Over-40s World Champion.

The approval of the zones represents a significant milestone in tournament planning and allows participating countries to finalize their preparations for what is expected to be the largest and most competitive Over 40s World Cup ever staged.

The tournament format will see teams compete within their respective zones for 7 rounds before advancing to the playoff stages to determine the 2026 World Champion.

SHOWCASING ALL OF GUYANA

A unique feature of the 2026 World Cup will be the inclusion of matches in the Essequibo Region which matches will be played on October 24th & 25th at the new Anna Regina Stadium and the Joe Jagmohan Hampton Court ground, highlighting Guyana’s commitment to spreading the economic and social benefits of major sporting events across the country.

The decision to include Essequibo forms part of a broader national vision to showcase the entire country to international visitors and television audiences. Participating teams and supporters will have the opportunity to experience the diverse culture, hospitality, and natural beauty that make Guyana one of the most exciting destinations in the Caribbean and South America.

The tournament will feature matches in Georgetown, Berbice, and Essequibo, creating a truly national event that extends beyond traditional cricket venues.

CWIMA Chairman Raj Singh welcomed the announcement, stating: “The approval of the zones is another important milestone as we continue preparations for the Over 40s World Cup 2026.
