Kaieteur Sports – The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club is widely known across the ancient county of Berbice for its generosity towards other clubs and the Berbice Cricket Board. The national awardee youth and sports club is highly respected for assisting others to fulfill their own mandate to serve youths.

The ten cricket teams of the club Friday last, continued their tradition of assisting the Berbice Cricket Board by donating eight large championship trophies. Club Secretary Hilbert Foster handed over the trophies on behalf of the Poonai Pharmacy under 11and 13, Farfan and Mendes under-15, Bakewell under 17 and second division, Pepsi under 19 and Intermediate, Metro females and the Namilco Thunderbolt Flour under 23 and first division teams. The presentation was done under the club Basil Butcher Trust Fund in memory of the legendary West Indies middle-order batsman, who played over 44 test matches for the region. Foster, the former BCB President, in brief remarks, committed the teams to a similar donation in the near future. Foster noted that the RHTYSC has always supported the BCB because it is committed to the development of the game at the county, national and regional level. The club, apart from its assistance to the board, has assisted over one hundred sister clubs with numerous items. Foster stated that his club strongly believes that the West Indies is at its strongest when every cricket club performs at the maximum level.

Cricket Manager Robby Kissoonlall stated that the RHTYSC cricket teams have assisted a total of one hundred and four cricket clubs across Guyana with a wide array of items, including cricket gears and equipment, uniforms, educational materials, water pitchers, scorebooks, coaching equipment, cricket balls, food hampers, trophies, medals, framed certificates, office furniture, bicycles and electronic tablets, among others. Players in Essequibo, Georgetown and Linden have also benefited from the kindness of the club, while for 2026, the RHTYSC has already supported thirteen clubs in the ancient county.

BCB Administrator Angela Haniff and appointed executive Floyd Benjamin received the trophies and expressed gratitude to the teams for their support. Haniff stated that the trophies were most welcome as her board would be hosting numerous tournaments at different levels in 2006. Tournaments would be held at the U12, U14, U16, U17, U19, U21, U23, Second Division, Intermediate, Females, Secondary School and First Division levels. The trophies, Benjamin stated, would assist the board to save much needed funds to be diverted to youth development programmes like the annual cricket academy. The BCB, since its formation in 1939, has produced 23 test players, with three of them from the RHTYSC. The board has also produced numerous others for the West Indies at the T20, ODI and A-level over the years. Players like John Trim, Rohan Kanhai, Basil Butcher, Alvin Kallicharran and Roy Fredricks are all products of the ancient county.
