Kaieteur Sports – Guyana’s GFF Elite League champions, Slingerz FC, booked their place in the Round of 16 of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Shield after a convincing 4-0 victory over SWA Sharks of the Turks and Caicos Islands on Wednesday at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Jamaal Shabazz-coached side produced a dominant performance from start to finish, with Kemar Beckford leading the charge by scoring twice to put the Guyanese club firmly in control.
Beckford opened the scoring in the 10th minute before doubling Slingerz’s advantage just before halftime with his second goal in the 44th minute, giving the reigning GFF Elite League champions a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.
Slingerz continued to dictate play in the second half and added to their tally in the 75th minute when Neron Barrow found the back of the net.
Derrel Garcia completed the rout in the 84th minute to seal an emphatic 4-0 victory and confirm the team’s progression to the next round.
With the win, Slingerz advance to the Round of 16, where they will face Trinidad and Tobago’s Prison Service FC on Saturday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium as they continue their quest for CFU Club Shield glory.
