Kaieteur Sports – The Georgetown Office Assistants Promotions Committee (G.O.A.P.C.) Diamond Jubilee Independence Secondary School Boys’ Tapeball Cricket Competition has received a major boost with sponsorship from International Import and Supplies co.

The tournament, which will feature schools from Georgetown and surrounding areas, will be played in an exciting eight-a-side format on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24.

Winner will walk away with this gleaming hardware as several Secondary Schools set to battle for GOAPC-Independence Tapeball trophy.

Matches are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. daily at the National Cultural Centre and National Park tarmacs.

The two-day event promises thrilling Tapeball cricket action for secondary school students across Guyana, particularly second, third, and fourth form students, as many fifth and sixth formers will be engaged in CXC examinations. Teams will compete in a fast-paced 30-ball (five over) knockout showdown.

Chief Executive Officer of International Import and Supplies, Joe Jagmohan, said the company is committed to making the competition an annual event, noting his passion for seeing young players enjoy the sport they love.

In addition to the prestigious Independence Cup and medals for the champions, several attractive prizes will also be up for grabs.

To date, 31 schools have confirmed participation in the tournament, which is being coordinated by James “Uprising” Lewis, popularly known as “Uncle James.”
